Executive Functions Group for Students, Early Adults, and Young Professionals
Drop-ins welcome!
Practice Managing Your Time and Emotions for Easier Task Initiation and Completion
Thursdays @ The Spa Room from 1:30–3:00 4115 Wisconsin Avenue, Suite 102, Washington DC, 20016
Intelligent people often struggle in school and work because they lack some of the skills that make up executive functioning. Most of these skills are easy to learn, but they’re not often taught in a supportive, nurturing environment. In this drop-in group, facilitated by Mary Szegda, MA, LPC, BC-DMT and Thomas Northrup, M.A. Ed., participants will identify obstacles to their academic and professional success, and we will use role play to learn and practice the microskills of executive functioning (e.g., time management and impulse control) to overcome these obstacles.
The sessions are offered in two parts:
Part one (1:30-2:30) is designed to teach you the microskills of executive functioning, help you identify barriers to your success, and provide opportunities to practice effective executive functioning through role play.
Part two (2:30-3:00) is optional. With help from the facilitators and the group, you can complete tasks you’ve brought with you.
