The lesson will include a brief overview of anatomy, the basic mechanics of giving massage (no more ‘weak hands’) and an easy to follow protocol for working on the back, neck, shoulders, hands and feet. Our daily lives can cause aches and pains such as tight shoulders, aching backs, and headaches. In these stressful states, how do we relax? Relaxation 101 is designed as a take home program of stretches to loosen your joints and release tension. The goal of this session is to clear your mind, spend time with your partner or friend, and get your body moving. The instructor provides individualized attention for a fully integrated and relaxing experience. At the end of the class, you will leave with a handout outlining the movement sequence to then repeat in the convenience of your own home. Perfect for beginners. Semi-Private sessions are limited to three pairs.

Infant Massage Instruction
Infant massage is an ideal way to bond with your baby and instill a sense of relaxation in both child and parent. Through the use of handouts and demonstration on dolls, a trained infant massage instructor will teach you to massage your little one from head to toe, and present specific techniques for addressing issues and discomforts common to new babies. Infant massage is best suited for children who have not yet begun to crawl. No child is too young to receive the work. Ideally, infant massage instruction is presented in a series of at least three classes, but there is an advantage to even a one-time introduction to the work.
Private Sessions: 110.00* :: Semi- Private Sessions: $45*
*Please call or email info@sparoommassage.com to schedule.
Restorative Yoga with Katie Harris Banks
$20 per person
classes will resume in April 2012
What is Restorative Yoga? Many of us run around morning, noon, and night with never-ending to-do lists, rambling minds and fidgety, tight bodies. Restorative yoga invites the body and mind into deep relaxation and gives us a chance to put our to-do lists on hold for a while. Poses are held for long periods of time so the body can truly relax and surrender. We are able to hold these poses for long periods with the support of props, such as blankets and blocks. We’ll begin with a gentle warm up and stretch to get the body warm and prepare it for relaxation. Then you’ll be lead through a sequence of yummy poses that will surely leave you nourished and calm.
What to wear: Comfortable clothes (no jeans). Since we will be holding poses for long periods of time and won’t be moving the body a lot, layers are recommended so you don’t get cold.
