Adjunct Modalities

The Feldenkrais Method

Functional Integration Lessons:
Designed to meet each person’s individual needs, Functional Integration lessons are done privately with a practitioner. Taking place on a low massage-like table, the student, fully clothed, is guided with gentle touch and movement to find greater movement possibilities, reduce tension and increase body awareness.

Awareness Through Movement Classes:

Lead by a teacher who verbally guides students through a series of gentle movements, these group classes reduce tension in the body, enhance flexibility and coordination, and bring an overall sense of relaxation. By letting go of unnecessary movement habits you will find greater range of motion and comfort. After participating in an ATM lesson many people find they have a relaxed body, ease of breath and clarity of mind.
ATM is not exercise or stretching, and usually you will lie on the floor.  Please be sure to wear comfortable clothes to class. ATM is excellent for people who have repetitive stress injuries, who want to change their posture or who need to reduce their overall tension.

CranioSacral Therapy

CranioSacral therapy (CST) aims to improve the functioning of the central nervous system and assist the body in its natural healing process by locating and releasing restrictions in the craniosacral system–comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord.

CranioSacral therapy is performed while the client is fully clothed and uses a very light touch–about the weight of a nickle.  The work is generally seen as very soothing and relaxing.  Some clients report that the sensation is very subtle, but for others it can feel very big.  Many clients report falling asleep, or being in a sort of twilight state.

Among the issues for which craniosacral therapy can be especially effective are frequent headaches, back pain and stress related issues.

Reiki

Reiki relieves energy (chi, prana) blockages and imbalances that are believed to be the underlying cause of dis-ease, and thus restores balance and supports healing and well-being. Reiki is a very subtle process that can relieve stress; aches and pain; and physical, mental, emotional or spiritual blockages as well as restores physical and mental energy. During the session, the client remains fully clothed. The practitioner acts as an open channel for life force energy: neither practitioner or client  exchange or absorb the other’s energy during the session. SpaRoom offers Western and Eastern Usui, Sekhem-Keichim, Karuna and Tummo forms of Reiki.

Clinical Aromatherapy Assessments

Aromatherapy is the use of natural plant aromatics (volatile components) that emit a distinct smell and energy that can invoke physical, mental, emotional, energetic or spiritual change. These aromatic substances can be used to support healing, promote well being or simply provide enjoyment. While smell is an important attribute of aromatics, they are also commonly applied and absorbed through the skin in the form of creams, balms, sprays, etc. Aromatherapy assessments entail a complete medical history, followed by the creation of a unique blend and product to address the clients needs. Aromatherapy can also be incorporated into other forms of energy and body work.
